This little string does an amazing job grounding your vinyl. Simply attach both ends of the string to grounded fasteners on your vinyl cutter and drape the string over the vinyl before it gets to your cutter. Static on the vinyl is dissipated before a charge can build up and shock your cutter. Static dissipation in vinyl cutters is known to cause the following failure modes:

1) Stopping during cutting
2) Extra cuts that aren't in your artwork
3) Missing cuts
4) Uncontrolled roller movement (spilling vinyl onto the floor)
5) Uncontrolled carriage movement (carriage running into end of cutter)

Choose between several kits including the following kits:
1) CR0630, CR0730 - Includes 3' of string and two self-tapping fasteners for mounting.
2) Contour 2400, Servo 2400 - Includes 3' of string. (Mounts using existing fasteners)
3) CR1200, CR1300 - Includes 5' of string and two self-tapping fasteners for mounting.
4) Contour 4800, Servo 4800 - Includes 5' of string. (Mounts using existing fasteners)

Note it is extremely important to tie both ends of the string to the fasteners which are in contact with the metal of the cutter.
Do not use magnets alone which will only connect to painted (insulated) surfaces of the cutter.
If you are going to use magnets to anchor the ends of the string then extend one end of the string to connect it to a fastener that goes into the metal of the cutter.
Make sure you select a grounded fastener as several fasteners on the machine only connect to plastic such as the end cap fasteners.
Do not tie the ends of the string around a feature on the cutter for mounting as nearly all surfaces are painted or plated or anodized or clear coated and are non conductive.
Do not tie knots in the end of the string and poke them through a hole in the plate. This will not electrically connect the string to the metal of the cutter as the knots will be sitting on painted surfaces
If you have access to a resistance meter, digital multimeter, DMM, etc. then after you have connected the string to the cutter, verify the electrical path by checking the resistance from the center of the string to the ground wire on the cutter. If the resistance is infinite, then your string is not connected properly.
It is also important to make sure the string lays on top of the vinyl as the cutter is cutting. We have had several instances where users have connected the string and then let it dangle beneath the cutter. The string must lay on top of the vinyl surface.
